How To Install libmgl-data on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install libmgl-data
on Debian 9.
What is libmgl-data
libmgl-data is:
A free cross-platform library of fast C++ routines for plotting data in up to 3 dimensions. It can export plots to bitmaps and vector EPS, SVG, IDTF files. There are simple window interfaces based on GLUT, FLTK and/or Qt. MathGL can also be used in the console. There are interfaces to a set of languages, such as, C, Fortran, Pascal, Forth, Python, Octave.
This package contains the MathGL data files.
There are three methods to install libmgl-data
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmgl-data Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmgl-data
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmgl-data
Install libmgl-data Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmgl-data
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libmgl-data
Install libmgl-data Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmgl-data
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmgl-data
How To Uninstall libmgl-data on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libmgl-data
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmgl-data
Uninstall libmgl-data And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libmgl-data
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmgl-data
Remove libmgl-data Configurations and Data
To remove libmgl-data
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmgl-data
Remove libmgl-data configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libmgl-data

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmgl-data
