How To Install libmapnik-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

What is libmapnik-dev
libmapnik-dev is:
Mapnik is an OpenSource C++ toolkit for developing GIS (Geographic Information Systems) applications. At the core is a C++ shared library providing algorithms/patterns for spatial data access and visualization.
Essentially a collection of geographic objects (map, layer, datasource, feature, geometry), the library doesn’t rely on “windowing systems” and is intended to work in multi-threaded environments
This package contains the development headers, API documentation, and build utilities.
There are three methods to install libmapnik-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libmapnik-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libmapnik-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libmapnik-dev

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libmapnik-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libmapnik-dev
Install libmapnik-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libmapnik-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libmapnik-dev
How To Uninstall libmapnik-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libmapnik-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libmapnik-dev
Uninstall libmapnik-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libmapnik-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libmapnik-dev
Remove libmapnik-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libmapnik-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libmapnik-dev
Remove libmapnik-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libmapnik-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libmapnik-dev
