How To Install liblas3 on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install liblas3 on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is liblas3
liblas3 is:
libLAS is a C/C++ library for reading and writing ASPRS LAS versions 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 data. The LAS format is a sequential binary format used to store data from sensors and as intermediate processing storage by some LiDAR-related applications. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is an optical remote sensing technology that measures properties of scattered light to find range and/or other information of a distant target. The prevalent method to determine distance to an object or surface is to use laser pulses.
This package contains the C++ shared library used by applications.
There are three methods to install liblas3 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install liblas3 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install liblas3 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install liblas3
Install liblas3 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install liblas3 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install liblas3
Install liblas3 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install liblas3 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install liblas3
How To Uninstall liblas3 on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the liblas3 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove liblas3
Uninstall liblas3 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall liblas3 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove liblas3
Remove liblas3 Configurations and Data
To remove liblas3 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge liblas3
Remove liblas3 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove liblas3 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge liblas3
