How To Install libje-perl on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libje-perl on Kali Linux.
What is libje-perl
libje-perl is:
JE is a pure-Perl ECMAScript (JavaScript) engine.
Advantages:
- Compatible with Data::Dump::Streamer, so the runtime environment can be serialised
- The parser can be extended/customised to support extra (or fewer) language features (not yet complete)
- All JavaScript datatypes can be manipulated directly from Perl (they all have overloaded operators)
Weaknesses:
- It’s slow
- It uses lots of memory.
- It leaks memory (to be fixed).
This is still an alpha release, but it fully implements ECMAScript v3, except for a few seldom-used features like -0.
There are three methods to install libje-perl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libje-perl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libje-perl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libje-perlInstall libje-perl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libje-perl using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libje-perl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libje-perlHow To Uninstall libje-perl on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libje-perl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libje-perlUninstall libje-perl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libje-perl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libje-perlRemove libje-perl Configurations and Data
To remove libje-perl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libje-perlRemove libje-perl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libje-perl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
