How To Install libite5 on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libite5 on Kali Linux.

What is libite5

libite5 is:

Libite, or -lite, is a lightweight library of frog DNA. It can be used to fill the gaps in any dinosaur project. It holds useful functions and macros developed by both Finit and the OpenBSD project. Most notably the string functions: strlcpy(3), strlcat(3) and the highly useful *BSD sys/queue.h and sys/tree.h API’s.

Libite is the frog DNA missing in GNU libc. However, -lite does not aim to become another GLIB! One noticeable gap in GLIBC is the missing _SAFE macros in the BSD sys/queue.h API ?? highly recommended when traversing lists to delete/free nodes.

The code is open source software under a mix of the MIT/X11 license, the ISC license used by OpenBSD, and BSD licenses, all of them are extremely liberal and can be used freely in proprietary software if needed.

There are three methods to install libite5 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libite5 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libite5 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libite5

Install libite5 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libite5 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libite5

Install libite5 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libite5 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libite5

How To Uninstall libite5 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libite5 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libite5

Uninstall libite5 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libite5 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libite5

Remove libite5 Configurations and Data

To remove libite5 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libite5

Remove libite5 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libite5 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libite5
