How To Install libinput on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libinput on AlmaLinux 8.
What is libinput
libinput is a library that handles input devices for display servers and other applications that need to directly deal with input devices. It provides device detection, device handling, input device event processing and abstraction so minimize the amount of custom input code the user of libinput need to provide the common set of functionality that users expect.
We can use yum or dnf to install libinput on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libinput.
Install libinput on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libinput using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libinput
Install libinput on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libinput using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libinput
How To Uninstall libinput on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the libinput package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libinput
