How To Install libimlib2-dev on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libimlib2-dev
on Debian 9.
What is libimlib2-dev
libimlib2-dev is:
Imlib2 is a library that does image file loading and saving as well as rendering, manipulation, arbitrary polygon support, etc.
It does ALL of these operations FAST. Imlib2 also tries to be highly intelligent about doing them, so writing naive programs can be done easily, without sacrificing speed.
This package provides the development files (ie. includes, static library, manual pages) that allow one to build software which uses imlib2.
There are three methods to install libimlib2-dev
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libimlib2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libimlib2-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libimlib2-dev
Install libimlib2-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libimlib2-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libimlib2-dev
Install libimlib2-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libimlib2-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libimlib2-dev
How To Uninstall libimlib2-dev on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libimlib2-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libimlib2-dev
Uninstall libimlib2-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libimlib2-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libimlib2-dev
Remove libimlib2-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libimlib2-dev
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libimlib2-dev
Remove libimlib2-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libimlib2-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libimlib2-dev
