What is libib-util

libib-util is:

Firebird is a relational database offering many ANSI SQL-99 features that runs on Linux, Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms. Firebird offers excellent concurrency, high performance, and powerful language support for stored procedures and triggers. It has been used on production systems under a variety of names since 1981.

libib_util contains utility functions used by User-Defined Functions (UDF) for memory management etc.

There are three methods to install libib-util on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libib-util Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libib-util using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libib-util

Install libib-util Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libib-util using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libib-util

Install libib-util Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libib-util using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libib-util

How To Uninstall libib-util on Debian 9

To uninstall only the libib-util package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libib-util

Uninstall libib-util And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libib-util and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libib-util

Remove libib-util Configurations and Data

To remove libib-util configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libib-util
