How To Install libhealpix-java on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libhealpix-java on Kali Linux.

What is libhealpix-java

libhealpix-java is:

HEALPix is an acronym for Hierarchical Equal Area isoLatitude Pixelization of a sphere. As suggested in the name, this pixelization produces a subdivision of a spherical surface in which each pixel covers the same surface area as every other pixel. It is commonly used to store all-sky astronomical images, most famously maps of the cosmic microwave background.

This package provides the Java language implementation of HEALPix.

There are three methods to install libhealpix-java on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libhealpix-java Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libhealpix-java using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libhealpix-java

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libhealpix-java using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
