How To Install libgit2-dev on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libgit2-dev on Kali Linux.
What is libgit2-dev
libgit2-dev is:
libgit2 is a portable, pure C implementation of the Git distributed version control system core methods provided as a re-entrant link-able library with a solid API.
This package contains the development files for libgit2.
There are three methods to install libgit2-dev on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libgit2-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libgit2-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libgit2-devInstall libgit2-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libgit2-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libgit2-devInstall libgit2-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libgit2-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libgit2-devHow To Uninstall libgit2-dev on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libgit2-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libgit2-devUninstall libgit2-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libgit2-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgit2-devRemove libgit2-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libgit2-dev configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libgit2-devRemove libgit2-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
