How To Install libgap7 on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libgap7 on Kali Linux.

What is libgap7

libgap7 is:

GAP is a system for computational discrete algebra, with particular emphasis on Computational Group Theory. GAP provides a programming language, a library of thousands of functions implementing algebraic algorithms written in the GAP language as well as large data libraries of algebraic objects. GAP is used in research and teaching for studying groups and their representations, rings, vector spaces, algebras, combinatorial structures, and more.

This package contains the shared library.

There are three methods to install libgap7 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libgap7 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libgap7 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libgap7

Install libgap7 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libgap7 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libgap7

Install libgap7 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libgap7 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libgap7

How To Uninstall libgap7 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libgap7 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libgap7

Uninstall libgap7 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libgap7 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libgap7

Remove libgap7 Configurations and Data

To remove libgap7 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libgap7

Remove libgap7 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libgap7 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
