How To Install libfuse2 on Ubuntu 22.04

What is libfuse2
libfuse2 is:
Filesystem in Userspace (FUSE) is a simple interface for userspace programs to export a virtual filesystem to the Linux kernel. It also aims to provide a secure method for non privileged users to create and mount their own filesystem implementations.
This package contains the shared library.
There are three methods to install libfuse2
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfuse2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuse2
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfuse2

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuse2
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfuse2
Install libfuse2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfuse2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfuse2
How To Uninstall libfuse2 on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the libfuse2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfuse2
Uninstall libfuse2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfuse2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfuse2
Remove libfuse2 Configurations and Data
To remove libfuse2
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfuse2
Remove libfuse2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfuse2
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfuse2
