How To Install libfreenect-demos on Ubuntu 20.04

What is libfreenect-demos
libfreenect-demos is:
libfreenect is a cross-platform library that provides the necessary interfaces to activate, initialize, and communicate data with the Kinect hardware. Currently, the library supports access to RGB and depth video streams, motors, accelerometer and LED and provide binding in different languages (C++, Python…)
This library is the low level component of the OpenKinect project which is an open community of people interested in making use of the Xbox Kinect hardware with PCs and other devices.
This package is a metapackage to do the transition from libfreenect-demos to libfreenect-bin. This package can be removed after installation.
There are three methods to install libfreenect-demos on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libfreenect-demos Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libfreenect-demos using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libfreenect-demos
Install libfreenect-demos Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libfreenect-demos using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libfreenect-demos
Install libfreenect-demos Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libfreenect-demos using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libfreenect-demos
How To Uninstall libfreenect-demos on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libfreenect-demos package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libfreenect-demos
Uninstall libfreenect-demos And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libfreenect-demos and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libfreenect-demos
Remove libfreenect-demos Configurations and Data
To remove libfreenect-demos configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libfreenect-demos
Remove libfreenect-demos configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libfreenect-demos configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libfreenect-demos
