on Debian 12.
What is libflite1
libflite1 is:
Flite is a small fast run-time speech synthesis engine. It is the latest addition to the suite of free software synthesis tools including University of Edinburgh’s Festival Speech Synthesis System and Carnegie Mellon University’s FestVox project, tools, scripts and documentation for building synthetic voices. However, flite itself does not require either of these systems to run.
It currently only supports the English and Indic languages.
This package contains the shared library objects of Festival Lite
There are three methods to install libflite1
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libflite1
using apt-get

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install libflite1
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install libflite1
How To Uninstall libflite1 on Debian 12
To uninstall only the libflite1
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libflite1
Uninstall libflite1 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libflite1
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libflite1
Remove libflite1 Configurations and Data
To remove libflite1
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libflite1
Remove libflite1 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
