How To Install libflac8 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libflac8 on Kali Linux.
What is libflac8
libflac8 is:
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC is similar to MP3, but lossless. The FLAC project consists of:
- The stream format
- libFLAC, which implements a reference encoder, stream decoder, and file decoder
- flac, which is a command-line wrapper around libFLAC to encode and decode .flac files
- Input plugins for various music players (Winamp, XMMS, and more in the works)
This package contains the runtime library libFLAC.
There are three methods to install libflac8 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libflac8 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libflac8 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libflac8Install libflac8 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libflac8 using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libflac8Install libflac8 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install libflac8 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libflac8How To Uninstall libflac8 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the libflac8 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libflac8Uninstall libflac8 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libflac8 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libflac8Remove libflac8 Configurations and Data
To remove libflac8 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libflac8Remove libflac8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libflac8 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libflac8Dependencies
