In this tutorial we learn how to install libfap-dev on Debian 9.

What is libfap-dev

libfap-dev is:

libfap is a C port of the Ham::APRS::FAP Finnish APRS Parser (Fabulous APRS Parser) Perl module. As the original Perl code, libfap parses normal, mic-e and compressed location packets, NMEA location packets, objects, items, messages, telemetry and most weather packets. This package contains the development files for libfap.

There are three methods to install libfap-dev on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libfap-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libfap-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
