How To Install libev-libevent-dev on Debian 11
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libev-libevent-dev on Debian 11.
What is libev-libevent-dev
libev-libevent-dev is:
Compatibility wrapper “event.h” to enable programs which use the libevent event loop to link against libev.
libev provides a full-featured and high-performance event loop that is loosely modelled after libevent. It includes relative timers, absolute timers with customized rescheduling, synchronous signals, process status change events, event watchers dealing with the event loop itself, file watchers, and even limited support for fork events. It uses a priority queue to manage timers and uses arrays as fundamental data structure. It has no artificial limitations on the number of watchers waiting for the same event.
libev supports select, poll, epoll, kqueue, and inotify.
There are three methods to install libev-libevent-dev on Debian 11. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libev-libevent-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libev-libevent-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
