How To Install libear on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libear
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libear
libear is:
Bear records the flags passed to the compiler for each translation unit and stores them in a JSON file. This file can be used by Clang’s tooling interface and programs like clang-check to process a translation unit.
cmake supports the generation of JSON compilation databases out of the box. For any other build system that does not support this, Bear can be used instead to intercept the invocation of the compiler.
This is the required library for wrapping system calls.
There are three methods to install libear
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libear Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libear
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libear
Install libear Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libear
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libear
Install libear Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libear
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libear
How To Uninstall libear on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libear
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libear
Uninstall libear And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libear
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libear
Remove libear Configurations and Data
To remove libear
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libear
Remove libear configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libear
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libear
