How To Install libdumbnet-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libdumbnet-dev on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libdumbnet-dev
libdumbnet-dev is:
libdumbnet provides a simplified, portable interface to several low-level networking routines, including
- network address manipulation
- kernel arp(4) cache and route(4) table lookup and manipulation
- network firewalling (Ip filter, ipfw, ipchains, pdf, …)
- network interface lookup and manipulation
- raw IP packet and Ethernet frame transmission
libdumbnet is known as libdnet in other distributions, but was renamed in Debian in favour of the older DECnet library ’libdnet'.
This package contains the static library and the C header files.
There are three methods to install libdumbnet-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdumbnet-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdumbnet-dev using apt-get by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

How To Uninstall libdumbnet-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

sudo apt-get -y purge libdumbnet-dev

We can use the following command to remove libdumbnet-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
