How To Install libdtl-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libdtl-dev
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libdtl-dev
libdtl-dev is:
dtl is a C++ template library which provides functions for comparing two sequences of arbitrary types. The sequences to be compared must support a random-access iterator.
The algorithm dtl uses is based on the paper “An O(NP) Sequence Comparison Algorithm” (1989) by Sun Wu, Udi Manber and Gene Myers. The computational complexity of Wu’s Algorithm is O(N+PD) on average, and O(NP) in the worst case.
There are three methods to install libdtl-dev
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdtl-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdtl-dev
using apt-get

sudo apt-get -y install libdtl-dev

After updating apt database, We can install libdtl-dev

by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libdtl-dev
Install libdtl-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libdtl-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libdtl-dev
How To Uninstall libdtl-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libdtl-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libdtl-dev
Uninstall libdtl-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libdtl-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdtl-dev
Remove libdtl-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libdtl-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libdtl-dev
Remove libdtl-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libdtl-dev
