How To Install libdpdk-dev on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libdpdk-dev on Debian 10.
What is libdpdk-dev
libdpdk-dev is:
DPDK is a set of libraries for fast packet processing. Applications run in user-space and communicate directly with dedicated network interfaces.
This package contains the basic headers and library files required to build external applications which will also require at least SSE3 support when running.
libdpdk.pc: note that CFLAGS might contain an -march flag higher than typical baseline. This is required for a number of static inline functions in the public headers.
There are three methods to install libdpdk-dev on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libdpdk-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libdpdk-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libdpdk-dev
Install libdpdk-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libdpdk-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libdpdk-dev
Install libdpdk-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libdpdk-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libdpdk-dev
How To Uninstall libdpdk-dev on Debian 10
To uninstall only the libdpdk-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libdpdk-dev
Uninstall libdpdk-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libdpdk-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdpdk-dev
Remove libdpdk-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libdpdk-dev configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libdpdk-dev
Remove libdpdk-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libdpdk-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libdpdk-dev
