How To Install libdb4 on CentOS 7

What is libdb4
The Berkeley Database (Berkeley DB) is a programmatic toolkit that provides embedded database support for both traditional and client/server applications. The Berkeley DB includes B+tree, Extended Linear Hashing, Fixed and Variable-length record access methods, transactions, locking, logging, shared memory caching, and database recovery. The Berkeley DB supports C, C++, Java, and Perl APIs. It is used by many applications, including Python and Perl, so this should be installed on all systems.
We can use yum or dnf to install libdb4 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libdb4.
Install libdb4 on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libdb4 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libdb4
Install libdb4 on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install libdb4 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libdb4
How To Uninstall libdb4 on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the libdb4 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libdb4
