How To Install libdb1-compat on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libdb1-compat on Kali Linux.

What is libdb1-compat

libdb1-compat is:

libdb is a library for manipulating database files, developed at Berkeley.

It supports three kinds of file formats:

• btree. A representation of a sorted, balanced tree structure.
• hashed. An extensible, dynamic hashing scheme.
• UNIX file oriented. A byte stream file with fixed or variable length records.

This library exists for compatibility with applications built against glibc 2.0 or 2.1. There is intentionally no corresponding development package. Do not link new applications against this library!

After updating apt database, We can install libdb1-compat using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libdb1-compat

How To Uninstall libdb1-compat on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libdb1-compat package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libdb1-compat

Uninstall libdb1-compat And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libdb1-compat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libdb1-compat

Remove libdb1-compat Configurations and Data

To remove libdb1-compat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libdb1-compat
