How To Install libdb on AlmaLinux 8

What is libdb
The Berkeley Database (Berkeley DB) is a programmatic toolkit that provides embedded database support for both traditional and client/server applications. The Berkeley DB includes B+tree, Extended Linear Hashing, Fixed and Variable-length record access methods, transactions, locking, logging, shared memory caching, and database recovery. The Berkeley DB supports C, C++, Java, and Perl APIs. It is used by many applications, including Python and Perl, so this should be installed on all systems.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install libdb
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libdb.
Install libdb on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libdb
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libdb
Install libdb on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libdb
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libdb
How To Uninstall libdb on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the libdb
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libdb
