What is libcrack2

libcrack2 is:

Shared library for cracklib2 which contains a C function which may be used in a passwd like program. The idea is simple: try to prevent users from choosing passwords that could be guessed by crack by filtering them out, at source. cracklib2 is NOT a replacement passwd program. cracklib2 is a LIBRARY.

There are three methods to install libcrack2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcrack2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcrack2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcrack2

Install libcrack2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcrack2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcrack2

Install libcrack2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcrack2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcrack2

How To Uninstall libcrack2 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libcrack2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcrack2

Uninstall libcrack2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcrack2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcrack2

sudo apt-get -y purge libcrack2
