What is libcpg4

libcpg4 is:

The Corosync Cluster Engine is a Group Communication System with additional features for implementing high availability within applications. The project provides four C Application Programming Interface features:

  • A closed process group communication model with virtual synchrony guarantees for creating replicated state machines.
  • A simple availability manager that restarts the application process when it has failed.
  • A configuration and statistics in-memory database that provide the ability to set, retrieve, and receive change notifications of information.
  • A quorum system that notifies applications when quorum is achieved or lost.

This package contains the Closed Process Group library.

There are three methods to install libcpg4 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libcpg4 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpg4 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libcpg4

Install libcpg4 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpg4 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libcpg4

Install libcpg4 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libcpg4 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libcpg4

How To Uninstall libcpg4 on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the libcpg4 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libcpg4

Uninstall libcpg4 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libcpg4 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcpg4

Remove libcpg4 Configurations and Data

To remove libcpg4 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcpg4

Remove libcpg4 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libcpg4 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcpg4
