How To Install libcgal-dev on Debian 11

on Debian 11.
What is libcgal-dev
libcgal-dev is:
CGAL (Computational Geometry Algorithms Library) makes the most important of the solutions and methods developed in computational geometry available to users in industry and academia in a C++ library. The goal is to provide easy access to useful, reliable geometric algorithms.
This package contains most of the header files. The header files for visualization with Qt can be found in the package libcgal-qt5-dev.
There are three methods to install libcgal-dev
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libcgal-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcgal-dev

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-dev
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcgal-dev
Install libcgal-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcgal-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcgal-dev
How To Uninstall libcgal-dev on Debian 11
To uninstall only the libcgal-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcgal-dev
Uninstall libcgal-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libcgal-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcgal-dev
Remove libcgal-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libcgal-dev
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcgal-dev
Remove libcgal-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libcgal-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcgal-dev
