How To Install libceres-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libceres-dev on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libceres-dev
libceres-dev is:
Ceres Solver is an open source C++ library for modeling and solving large, complicated optimization problems. It is a feature rich, mature and performant library which has been used in production at Google since 2010.
Ceres Solver can solve two kinds of problems.
- Non-linear Least Squares problems with bounds constraints.
- General unconstrained optimization problems.
This package contains the development header files.
There are three methods to install libceres-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libceres-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libceres-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libceres-dev
Install libceres-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libceres-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libceres-dev
Install libceres-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libceres-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libceres-dev
How To Uninstall libceres-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libceres-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libceres-dev
Uninstall libceres-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libceres-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libceres-dev
Remove libceres-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libceres-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libceres-dev
Remove libceres-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libceres-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
