How To Install libcdr-tools on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libcdr-tools on Debian 10.
What is libcdr-tools
libcdr-tools is:
libcdr is a library and a set of tools for reading and converting binary files produced by Corel DRAW.
libcdr currently supports just CDR files from V7 to X3 and the following features:
- pages and page sizes
- shapes, lines, Bezier curves, bitmaps
- flat color fills, both RGB, CMYK, HLS and HSB
- different kinds of strokes including dashed strokes
Above that libcdr provides a public API for rendering preview of pages for applications that have no notion of pages themselves.
This package contains cdr2xtml/cdr2raw and cmx2xhtml/cmx2raw.
There are three methods to install libcdr-tools on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libcdr-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-tools using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcdr-tools
Install libcdr-tools Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-tools using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcdr-tools
Install libcdr-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-tools using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcdr-tools
How To Uninstall libcdr-tools on Debian 10
To uninstall only the libcdr-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcdr-tools
Uninstall libcdr-tools And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libcdr-tools and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcdr-tools
Remove libcdr-tools Configurations and Data
To remove libcdr-tools configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcdr-tools
Remove libcdr-tools configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libcdr-tools configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcdr-tools
