How To Install libcdr-doc on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libcdr-doc on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libcdr-doc
libcdr-doc is:
libcdr is a library and a set of tools for reading and converting binary files produced by Corel DRAW.
libcdr currently supports just CDR files from V7 to X3 and the following features:
- pages and page sizes
- shapes, lines, Bezier curves, bitmaps
- flat color fills, both RGB, CMYK, HLS and HSB
- different kinds of strokes including dashed strokes
Above that libcdr provides a public API for rendering preview of pages for applications that have no notion of pages themselves.

There are three methods to install libcdr-doc on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libcdr-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcdr-doc
Install libcdr-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcdr-doc
Install libcdr-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-doc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcdr-doc
How To Uninstall libcdr-doc on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the libcdr-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcdr-doc
Uninstall libcdr-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libcdr-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcdr-doc
Remove libcdr-doc Configurations and Data
To remove libcdr-doc configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcdr-doc
Remove libcdr-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libcdr-doc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libcdr-doc
