In this tutorial we learn how to install libcdr-dev on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is libcdr-dev

libcdr-dev is:

libcdr is a library and a set of tools for reading and converting binary files produced by Corel DRAW.

libcdr currently supports just CDR files from V7 to X3 and the following features:

  • pages and page sizes
  • shapes, lines, Bezier curves, bitmaps
  • flat color fills, both RGB, CMYK, HLS and HSB
  • different kinds of strokes including dashed strokes

Above that libcdr provides a public API for rendering preview of pages for applications that have no notion of pages themselves.

There are three methods to install libcdr-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcdr-dev

To remove libcdr-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libcdr-dev
