How To Install libcdr-dev on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libcdr-dev
on Debian 10.
What is libcdr-dev
libcdr-dev is:
libcdr is a library and a set of tools for reading and converting binary files produced by Corel DRAW.
libcdr currently supports just CDR files from V7 to X3 and the following features:
- pages and page sizes
- shapes, lines, Bezier curves, bitmaps
- flat color fills, both RGB, CMYK, HLS and HSB
- different kinds of strokes including dashed strokes
Above that libcdr provides a public API for rendering preview of pages for applications that have no notion of pages themselves.

There are three methods to install libcdr-dev
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install libcdr-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-dev

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install libcdr-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcdr-dev
How To Uninstall libcdr-dev on Debian 10
To uninstall only the libcdr-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcdr-dev
Uninstall libcdr-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libcdr-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcdr-dev
Remove libcdr-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libcdr-dev
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcdr-dev
