How To Install libccolamd2 on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libccolamd2 on Ubuntu 18.04. libccolamd2 is constrained column approximate library for sparse matrices

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install libccolamd2 on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is libccolamd2

libccolamd2 is:

Suitesparse is a collection of libraries for computations involving sparse matrices.

The CCOLAMD library implements the “Constrained COLumn Approximate Minimum Degree ordering” algorithm. It computes a permutation vector P such that the LU factorization of A (:,P) tends to be sparser than that of A. The Cholesky factorization of (A (:,P))’*(A (:,P)) will also tend to be sparser than that of A’*A.

There are three methods to install libccolamd2 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
