How To Install libccid on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install libccid on Kali Linux.

What is libccid

libccid is:

This library provides a PC/SC IFD handler implementation for the USB smart card drivers compliant to the CCID protocol.

This package is needed to communicate with the CCID smartcard readers through the PC/SC Lite resource manager (pcscd).

This driver also supports the GemPC Twin connected to a serial port and the GemPC Card (PCMCIA, through the suggested pcmciautils package) and Gemplus GemPC Express (Express54 card).

There are three methods to install libccid on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libccid Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libccid using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libccid

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libccid using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libccid

Install libccid Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libccid using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libccid

How To Uninstall libccid on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libccid package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libccid

Uninstall libccid And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libccid and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libccid

Remove libccid Configurations and Data

To remove libccid configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libccid

Remove libccid configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
