What is libcap-devel
Development files (Headers, etc) for libcap. libcap is a library for getting and setting POSIX.1e (formerly POSIX 6) draft 15 capabilities. Install libcap-devel if you want to develop or compile applications using libcap.
We can use yum or dnf to install libcap-devel on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install libcap-devel.
Install libcap-devel on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libcap-devel using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install libcap-devel
Install libcap-devel on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install libcap-devel using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install libcap-devel
How To Uninstall libcap-devel on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the libcap-devel package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove libcap-devel
