How To Install libcacard-tools on Debian 9

This emulator is designed to provide emulation of actual smart cards to a virtual card reader running in a guest virtual machine. The emulated smart cards can be representations of real smart cards, where the necessary functions such as signing, card removal/insertion, etc. are mapped to real, physical cards which are shared with the client machine the emulator is running on, or the cards could be pure software constructs.
This package provides tools for the libcacard library (currently vscclient).
There are three methods to install libcacard-tools
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libcacard-tools Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libcacard-tools
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libcacard-tools

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libcacard-tools
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libcacard-tools
Install libcacard-tools Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libcacard-tools
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libcacard-tools
How To Uninstall libcacard-tools on Debian 9
To uninstall only the libcacard-tools
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libcacard-tools

To uninstall libcacard-tools
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libcacard-tools
Remove libcacard-tools Configurations and Data
To remove libcacard-tools
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libcacard-tools
