How To Install libbmusb4 on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install libbmusb4 on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is libbmusb4
libbmusb4 is:
bmusb is a userspace driver for Blackmagic’s USB3 series of video capture and playback cards (although only the capture part is currently supported), in particular the Intensity Shuttle (HDMI) and UltraStudio SDI cards. These are not currently served by Blackmagic’s own Linux drivers.
bmusb is not API- or ABI-compatible with Blackmagic’s drivers.
This package contains the shared library.
There are three methods to install libbmusb4 on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libbmusb4 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

To uninstall libbmusb4 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libbmusb4
Remove libbmusb4 Configurations and Data
To remove libbmusb4 configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libbmusb4
