In this tutorial we learn how to install libast2 on Kali Linux.

What is libast2

libast2 is:

LibAST is the Library of Assorted Spiffy Things. It contains many spiffy things, and it is a library. Thus, the ever-so-creative name. LibAST has been previously known as libmej, the Eterm helper library which nobody really understood and certainly never used. The plan is to gradually remove some of the neat stuff from Eterm that could be made generic (things like the theme parsing engine, the command-line options parser, perhaps the event engine, …) and place it here in the hopes that others will find them useful.

There are three methods to install libast2 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libast2 Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libast2 using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libast2

Install libast2 Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libast2 using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libast2

Install libast2 Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install libast2 using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install libast2

How To Uninstall libast2 on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the libast2 package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove libast2

Uninstall libast2 And Its Dependencies

To uninstall libast2 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove libast2

Remove libast2 Configurations and Data

To remove libast2 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge libast2

Remove libast2 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove libast2 configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libast2
