What is libapache2-mod-evasive

libapache2-mod-evasive is:

mod_evasive is an evasive maneuvers module for Apache to provide some protection in the event of an HTTP DoS or DDoS attack or brute force attack.

It is also designed to be a detection tool, and can be easily configured to talk to ipchains, firewalls, routers, and etcetera.

This module only works on Apache 2.x servers

There are three methods to install libapache2-mod-evasive on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install libapache2-mod-evasive Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-evasive using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install libapache2-mod-evasive

Install libapache2-mod-evasive Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install libapache2-mod-evasive using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install libapache2-mod-evasive

Install libapache2-mod-evasive Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update
