How To Install libambix-dev on Ubuntu 20.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install libambix-dev on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is libambix-dev
libambix-dev is:
libambix is a library of C routines for reading and writing files following the “ambix” (AMBIsonics eXchange) conventions.
Ambisonics is a periphonic (3D) surround sound technique, with a scalable spatial resolution (put simply: “the more audio channels you use, the better”). The ambix convention defines an extensible format for exchanging soundfiles containing Higher Order Ambisonics data.
This package provides the files necessary to compile an application using libambix.
There are three methods to install libambix-dev on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install libambix-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install libambix-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install libambix-dev
Install libambix-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install libambix-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install libambix-dev
Install libambix-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install libambix-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install libambix-dev
How To Uninstall libambix-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the libambix-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove libambix-dev
Uninstall libambix-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall libambix-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove libambix-dev
Remove libambix-dev Configurations and Data
To remove libambix-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge libambix-dev
Remove libambix-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove libambix-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge libambix-dev
