How To Install ledmon on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ledmon
on Debian 10.
What is ledmon
ledmon is:
ledmon and ledctl are userspace tools designed to control storage enclosure LEDs. The user must have root privileges to use these tools.
These tools use the SGPIO and SES-2 protocols to monitor and control LEDs. They been verified to work with Intel(R) storage controllers (i.e. the Intel(R) AHCI controller) and have not been tested with storage controllers of other vendors (especially SAS/SCSI controllers).
For backplane enclosures attached to ISCI controllers, support is limited to Intel(R) Intelligent Backplanes.
There are three methods to install ledmon
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ledmon Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ledmon
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ledmon
Install ledmon Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ledmon
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ledmon
Install ledmon Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ledmon
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ledmon
How To Uninstall ledmon on Debian 10
To uninstall only the ledmon
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ledmon
Uninstall ledmon And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ledmon
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ledmon
Remove ledmon Configurations and Data
To remove ledmon
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ledmon
Remove ledmon configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ledmon
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ledmon
