How To Install lava-common on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lava-common on Kali Linux.
What is lava-common
lava-common is:
LAVA is a continuous integration system for deploying operating systems onto physical and virtual hardware for running tests. Tests can be simple boot testing, bootloader testing and system level testing, although extra hardware may be required for some system tests. Results are tracked over time and data can be exported for further analysis.
This package contains common Python code to support lava-server and lava-dispatcher.
There are three methods to install lava-common on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install lava-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lava-common using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install lava-commonInstall lava-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lava-common using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install lava-commonInstall lava-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install lava-common using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the lava-common package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove lava-commonUninstall lava-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall lava-common and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove lava-commonRemove lava-common Configurations and Data
To remove lava-common configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge lava-commonRemove lava-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
