How To Install latexml on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install latexml on Debian 10.
What is latexml
latexml is:
latexml is a program, written in Perl, that attempts to faithfully mimic TeX’s behaviour, but produces XML instead of dvi. The document model of the target XML makes explicit the model implied by LaTeX.
The processing and model are both extensible; you can define the mapping between TeX constructs and the XML fragments to be created. A postprocessor, latexmlpost converts this XML into other formats such as HTML or XHTML, with options to convert the math into MathML (currently only presentation) or images.
There are three methods to install latexml on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install latexml Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install latexml using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install latexml
Install latexml Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install latexml using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install latexml
Install latexml Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install latexml using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install latexml
How To Uninstall latexml on Debian 10
To uninstall only the latexml package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove latexml
Uninstall latexml And Its Dependencies
To uninstall latexml and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove latexml
Remove latexml Configurations and Data
To remove latexml configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge latexml
Remove latexml configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove latexml configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge latexml
