How To Install lapack on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lapack
on CentOS 7.
What is lapack
LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical linear algebra. LAPACK provides routines for solving systems of simultaneous linear equations, least-squares solutions of linear systems of equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value problems. Associated matrix factorizations (LU, Cholesky, QR, SVD, Schur, and generalized Schur) and related computations (i.e., reordering of Schur factorizations and estimating condition numbers) are also included. LAPACK can handle dense and banded matrices, but not general sparse matrices. Similar functionality is provided for real and complex matrices in both single and double precision. LAPACK is coded in Fortran90 and built with gcc. LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical linear algebra. We can use yum
or dnf
to install lapack
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lapack.
Install lapack on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install lapack
using yum
by running the following command:
Install lapack on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install lapack
using dnf
by running the following command:

To uninstall only the lapack
package we can use the following command:
