How To Install lapack on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install lapack on AlmaLinux 8.
What is lapack
LAPACK (Linear Algebra PACKage) is a standard library for numerical linear algebra. LAPACK provides routines for solving systems of simultaneous linear equations, least-squares solutions of linear systems of equations, eigenvalue problems, and singular value problems. Associated matrix factorizations (LU, Cholesky, QR, SVD, Schur, and generalized Schur) and related computations (i.e., reordering of Schur factorizations and estimating condition numbers) are also included. LAPACK can handle dense and banded matrices, but not general sparse matrices. Similar functionality is provided for real and complex matrices in both single and double precision. LAPACK is coded in Fortran90 and built with gcc.
We can use yum or dnf to install lapack on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install lapack.
Install lapack on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lapack using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install lapack
Install lapack on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install lapack using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install lapack
How To Uninstall lapack on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the lapack package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove lapack
