How To Install kvirc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kvirc on Kali Linux.
What is kvirc
kvirc is:
A highly configurable graphical IRC client with an MDI interface, built-in scripting language, support for IRC DCC, drag & drop file browsing, and much more. KVIrc uses the KDE widget set, can be extended using its own scripting language, integrates with KDE, and supports custom plugins.
If you’re looking for a simple and plain IRC client, KVIrc is probably the wrong choice as it is rather big. But if you want a highly customizable client you won’t regret the installation.
There are three methods to install kvirc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kvirc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kvirc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kvircInstall kvirc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kvirc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kvircInstall kvirc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kvirc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kvircHow To Uninstall kvirc on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the kvirc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kvircUninstall kvirc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kvirc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kvircRemove kvirc Configurations and Data
To remove kvirc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kvircRemove kvirc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove kvirc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge kvircDependencies
