How To Install kup-backup on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install kup-backup on Kali Linux.
What is kup-backup
kup-backup is:
Kup is a backup tool for KDE’s Plasma desktop created for helping people to keep up-to-date backups of their personal files.
Features :
- Incremental backup archive with the use of “bup”.
- Synchronized folders with the use of “rsync”.
- Support for local filesystem or external usb storage.
- Monitor availibilty of backup destination.
- Integration into KDE’s Plasma desktop.
There are three methods to install kup-backup on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kup-backup Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kup-backup using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kup-backupInstall kup-backup Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kup-backup using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kup-backupInstall kup-backup Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install kup-backup using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kup-backupHow To Uninstall kup-backup on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the kup-backup package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kup-backupUninstall kup-backup And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kup-backup and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kup-backupRemove kup-backup Configurations and Data
To remove kup-backup configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kup-backupRemove kup-backup configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
