How To Install kmod on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kmod on AlmaLinux 8.
What is kmod
The kmod package provides various programs needed for automatic loading and unloading of modules under 2.6, 3.x, and later kernels, as well as other module management programs. Device drivers and filesystems are two examples of loaded and unloaded modules.
We can use yum or dnf to install kmod on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install kmod.
Install kmod on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install kmod using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install kmod
Install kmod on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install kmod using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install kmod
How To Uninstall kmod on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the kmod package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove kmod
