How To Install kissplice on Ubuntu 22.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install kissplice on Ubuntu 22.04.
What is kissplice
kissplice is:
KisSplice is a piece of software that enables the analysis of RNA-seq data with or without a reference genome. It is an exact local transcriptome assembler that allows one to identify SNPs, indels and alternative splicing events. It can deal with an arbitrary number of biological conditions, and will quantify each variant in each condition. It has been tested on Illumina datasets of up to 1G reads. Its memory consumption is around 5Gb for 100M reads.
There are three methods to install kissplice on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install kissplice Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kissplice
Install kissplice Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kissplice
Install kissplice Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install kissplice using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kissplice
How To Uninstall kissplice on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the kissplice package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kissplice

To uninstall kissplice and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kissplice
Remove kissplice Configurations and Data
To remove kissplice configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kissplice
