How To Install kinit-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install kinit-dev
on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is kinit-dev
kinit-dev is:
kdeinit is a process launcher somewhat similar to the famous init used for booting UNIX.
It launches processes by forking and then loading a dynamic library which should contain a ‘kdemain(…)’ function.
Using kdeinit to launch KDE applications makes starting a typical KDE applications 2.5 times faster (100ms instead of 250ms on a P-III 500) It reduces memory consumption by approx. 350Kb per application.

There are three methods to install kinit-dev
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install kinit-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get

sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install kinit-dev
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install kinit-dev

using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install kinit-dev

by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install kinit-dev
Install kinit-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install kinit-dev
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install kinit-dev
How To Uninstall kinit-dev on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the kinit-dev
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove kinit-dev
Uninstall kinit-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall kinit-dev
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove kinit-dev
Remove kinit-dev Configurations and Data
To remove kinit-dev
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge kinit-dev
Remove kinit-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove kinit-dev
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
